3 y/o says stomach hurts all the time - Page 2

My dd1 has been doing this for maybe the past 2 months. I am pretty sure it started when she had a fever and was sick one weekend. She got some special attention, she got to watch TV more, got to drink juice ( in an attempt to get liquids in her), etc. Since dd2 is only 5.5 months, sometimes attention can't be given right away. I try to remember and pay attention to when she says it and if she has eaten something particular right before or if it is always a the sme time of day, but so far haven't noticed a pattern.

FWIW, she also tells me her boobs hurt so she can't pick up her toys. Hehe. SHe obvioucly got that one from me (thrush) although it didn't get me out of any housework unfortunately.

My DD did this for about 1 year and it drove us crazy...she did it from about 3 to 4 yrs of age, and I took her to doctors, naturopaths, dietary stuff, more fiber (consto??), even resorted to Tums (bleh), essential oils...you name it, we tried it.

The above things seemed to only momentarily work, with no lasting impact on the tummyache. Her older cousin also went through similar issues so I thought maybe a hereditary structural thing.

BUT, having said that, what DID seem to help was something we learned from our naturopath: a teaspoon of olive oil 2x a day. It seemed to 'grease things up' and her sxs magically disappeared, and she had better BMs. I remember my DH and I saying in surprise that she didn't say her stomach hurt in 2 weeks...we were in shock.

*I* personally think, in retrospect, that it was emotional, played out in her digestive system (maybe cramps, spasms in her stomach). She was HN child, very sensitive, and doing the preschool thing. She tended to internalize things a lot.

FWIW she DID grow out of it.
