Organic coconut milk?

Hello ladies, how important is it to buy organic coconut milk? We go through a lot and I buy pretty much everything organic at this point. even with a 20 % discount (working at a health food store) it is getting to be very expensive. We go though about 4 cans a week and at 2 something a can it adds up! Trying to cut costs with out compromising too much. Ha! Thanks!

Do you have an Asian market nearby? I'm outside of Seattle and we have a lot, and cans of organic coconut milk are $1.29 (Aroy-D brand). That's cheaper then I can buy most conventional coconut milk!

Now, I've heard that only Native Forest coconut milk comes from cans not lined with BPA.

Also, have you checked amazon grocery? Sometimes they have good deals on cases of things and often have free shipping.

I don't know how important buying organic coconut milk is overall, but wanted to suggest a couple ideas of where to look.

Thanks for the reply, I`ll have to check the Asian store... I would love to buy native forest but where I live its 3.29 a can! I unfortunately cant buy through amazon as I am in Canada- I wish! They have some wonderful deals.

I know that mamas on here make it with shredded coconut. There is a how to video on Tropical traditions. I think it would be cheaper if you could find a good source of organic unsweetened shredded coconut. Plus no BPA issues. I want to do this but have not tried it yet.

i don't know where in Canada you are Brigio but if you have a Thrifty's foods near you (Vancouver Island and parts of the Lower Mainland BC) they have their own brand of Organic Coconut milk on sale a couple times a year. Last year it was on for $1 but this year the sale price went up to $1.25/can. I stock up when it's on sale. It's really yummy.
I noticed that Superstore (Loblaws?) is carrying some Native forest stuff but I don't know if they have org coconut milk or how prices compare.

i've noticed the cans of organic coconut milk in the asian food section of the coop (also at Whole Foods) are only slightly more expensive than the non-organic. And i mean like 10 cents more.
