twins and naps

My girls are 9mos old and I have found a hiccup for putting girls down for naps. My routine right now is putting DD1 down while DD2 plays downstairs. Recently she does not like being by herself while I rock DD1 and starts to cry, they DD1 wakes up and I have to start all over (they both start to cry when alone downstairs). I don't let DD2 cry for more than 2 minutes so leaving her there to cry is not an option. Wondering what others do while putting twins down for naps.

Thanks in advance!

i don't know if you're nursing, and if so, if you're opposed to nursing them down... but that's what i do. mine are a little over a year. occasionally i can get them down individually, but i find it much easier on everyone to wait until they're good and tired, throw a bunch of pillows on the bed, slap on the ez2nurse, put something awful+trashy on the tv and let them nurse to sleep. when i get the bright idea to work on them individually, inevitably the one who is playing gets upset and it goes as you described. one of my sons sleeps like a rock, so i'm able to lift him up and plop him on the bed (or kind of roll him off the side, lol), take the other to his crib, then come back and put the one sleeping on the bed into his crib.

At 9 mos. I was also still breastfeeding my b/g twins down for their naps. As they weaned, I found that the least tired twin would play happily on the floor of their shared bedroom with a quiet toy while I walked the other twin around their room to sleep. The rocking chair didn't work for this situation because the playing twin would want to pull up on the chair or my legs and that distracted the twin who was falling asleep. We have always had a white noise machine in their room which drowns out the noisy awake twin enough to let the other baby sleep. Good luck to you!

Thank you dividedsky. Yes, I am EBF both girls. However they don't fall asleep on the boob, only at night and their choice. They will not tandem nurse anymore either since they pick on each other.
Thank you storylady, I will definitely give that a try! I have a white noise as well so we shall see if that works.
