painful nipples and 2 yr old

Hi--Wondering if anyone has any insight to my problem. For a week now, my nipples have been hurting me when my 24 month old latches on. Then it would feel okay. But all of a sudden today one of my nipples started to hurt a lot after she was done nursing. And now an hour later it is still bothering me.

It looks okay except for a white colored spot in the middle...and hurts more when it is erect (cold in here!) Don't know what to do or what this could be....Any advice?

It may be nipple eczema. It gives your nipples a sort of burning sensation even after nursing, and can cause mild to severe pain on latch. The severe pain is when you start getting cracks because of the eczema.

In addition to pps theory I would consider thrush.
