OPK question

i've never used OPKs before. the directions say, and i see in some posts around here too, that when it's positive, it's very positive, darker than the control line. so if it's a little lighter than the control line, for example, is that an indication that there is some LH floating around and maybe the surge is coming soon (or just came) or is it just a random thing. i used one, the test line is very obvious but not darker than the control. is that considered just a plain ol negative, o could still be days away, or is it a negative but check again soon because it's likely to be blaring positive like tomorrow? what's been your experience?

I have used alot of OPKs. 2 different brands of internet cheapies. I have never only gotten 1 line. I always myself have 2 lines. Often the second line is not faint and certainly not a "squinter". I have seen the line get darker very close (like that day, or day before) being positive but not necessarily AND I've seen it get darker and then NOT get a positive and have it go faint again only to get a + a few days later.

This is a wonderful resource for OPK pics.

Hey

The line needs to be as dark as or darker then the control line to be + ... in my cycle if the line is nearly as dark as the control line then i would check again soon as usualy it be + in next couple days

I think that officially it is only positive when it is at least the same color as the control line. However, in my experience, I get progressively darker lines for a few days before I get the positive test. When the surge ends for me, there is often a very very light line afterward, but not for as long and not as dark as the lines leading up to the positive test.
