What is the single best book to learn about homeschooling?

Or, if not a book, some other resource, such as a website. I am also open to books about unschooling. I'm basically looking for some information on alternatives to public schools, and I like to read books. I thought I saw a list on MDC of good books to introduce these concepts. Maybe somebody can point me in the right direction or else suggest some books!

The Homeschooling Book of Answers by Linda Dobson is a great overview and will give you plenty of other books to read on the subject.

Also, Dumbing Us Down by John Taylor Gatto is a must-read, IMO.

Yup, exactly the two books I thought would be great to start with.

Actually, I just thought of another, the Home School Source Book. There is a newer, updated version by Jean Reed that can be viewed and purchased here:

HSSB was one of the very first homeschool books I read and I found it AMAZINGLY inspirational. Everything looked so fun, easy and wonderful. The books has oodles of inspirational anecdotes, stories from their years of homeschooling, cartoon snippets of different things that happened in their lives, plenty of great ideas and sources and reviews for resources that can be used while homeschooling, etc.

I second the above books. I also like A Thomas Jefferson Education and How Children Learn.
