Smoothies, popcorn, and other snacks

We put spinach in our fruit smoothies so they will have green polk-a-dots. Today we put a raw egg from one of our chickens in the smoothie, just for fun. My husband said it's to make it creamy. (Our kids are still little enough so telling them it makes it healthy would have still worked.)

What else do you add to/hide in your smoothies to make them nutritious?

We put nutritional yeast on popcorn. (Look how yellow it makes our pee.)

What else do you do for fun, healthy snacks for little kids?

I'm posting this in veggie rather than general health because I think vegetarians may have some health ideas for my vegetarian kids that the "general public" may not have.

I also usually add a handful of almonds to smoothies for my little one. And I make popsicles out of smoothies, too.

That sounds good. Have you tried almond butter?

I make almond butter for putting on sandwiches and such, but I find that throwing a handful of raw almonds into the blender at the start of blending works just as well as almond butter, and doesn't dirty a spoon or waste my homemade almond butter. I also prefer roasted almonds for the butter and raw in the smoothie, where I don't want to play up the taste of nuts, I just want to add nutrition.

Oh, another favorite here is pumpkin "frappachinos" - 1/2 cup of pureed pumpkin, a little pumpkin pie spice, soymilk, brown sugar and ice. I add instant espresso powder to mine.

That is really interesting. I wasn't aware the roasting brought out the flavor. I'll definitely add raw almonds to my shopping list next week.

We have smoothies everyday! For the liquid we don't do dairy, so we use nettles infusions. Full of vitamins and minerals. Also chia seeds, camu camu powder (for vit C), spirulina (but not all the time), lewis labs brewers yeast (not nutritional yeast).

I really want to get into these other foods here:
