Can i just attempt planting seeds? i would like basil and chives the most, is it pretty easy up keep?

Herb gardening can be really easy. Basically yes, you can plant your seeds in a small pot according to seed packet instructions and they should grow just fine. Keep in mind, you may need to thin them as they grow though. Basil is extremely hardy. I've only done chives once though and didn't get much.
