*If this is the wrong place please fell free to move it mods. . Thanks!*

I am going to start making my own baby food for our daughter and need a little help.
*How long can baby food be froze? I read 1 month but I thought it should stay longer then that??

*What containers do you store yours in? I thought about getting some glass containers but dont know where to find small glass freezer containers?

*How do you thaw yours? Do you have to let it thaw in the fridge or can you just mic it?

Wait until she's 6 months and let her have what you're having. http://babyledweaning.blogware.com/ (er, note that in this case "weaning" refers to the introduction of complementary foods, not stopping milk feeds)

My guess is the 1 month in the freezer limit has to do with the water content, but if that's the case you'd be able to just slowly heat it and stir.

We made ours in ice-cube trays, then transferred it to plastic bags. At the time, I wasn't thinking much about plastic; now I'd probably do it differently. We do have small glass containers now, some from K-Mart and some from Target, that aren't specifically made or marketed for the freezer but work just fine there. They have kind of rubbery lids, were cheap, and came in bigger sizes as well.

We thawed all sorts of ways. Under hot water, in the fridge. We did microwave. I know there's the concern about creating very hot pockets that could burn the mouth, but we just mixed it up really thoroughly and let it stand a little. And stuck our dirty little fingers in to check the temp!

I had never heard the one-month thing. I really don't know where to get reliable information about that kind of thing. If I had tried to abide by a 1 month limit, I don't think that would've been too hard, since it was going in their mouths all the time. But really, I think we left some things there 6, 8 weeks.

We freeze baby food all the time. I make it up and freeze it for a couple hours in an ice cube tray (makes nice 1 oz portions) and then store it in freezer bags marked with what the food is and when I made it. I have thawed it in the fridge, on the counter, and in the microwave depending on what it is and when I am going to use it.

I have never heard of a time limit fro freezing, but some fruits do not freeze well (zuccini), or will continue to ripen after they are frozen (I.e. bananas). Here is a link for the USDA site on freezing foods.
