I'm looking for creative ideas. I'm due to have baby #3 next month. I've never has a baby shower before and a friend generously offered to host one for me (this will be our last babe). I should add that my pregnancy has been frought with complications and I've been on bed rest for 4+ mos. so far-just seeing friends for an afternoon will be a thrill, and all of the invited guests have already been amazing supports keeping my family afloat these many months (have provided meals regularly, driven my children home from school, provided childcare, done our weekly grocery shopping, etc.) so I wouldn't be inclined to ask them to do anything more of that sort once baby arrives and I'm actually on my feet again.
That said, people have been asking me what I might want/need for Baby (for the shower and just general family/friends inquiring). Initially I said nothing really, but I've come to realize that a registry may be a practical option lest I end up with 30 more gender neutral 0-3 month sleepers. I already bought things that I knew we needed earlier on in the pregnancy because I wasn't counting on gifts. I'm stocked with CDs/wipes/covers, carriers/slings, clothes, blankets, soft shoes, leg warmers, teething necklace, etc. and a friend is letting us use their infant car seat for the first several months as our old one is expired. I've started to put together a registry at one of those online sites that lets you add whatever from wherever so any/all ideas are game. Thus far I've come up with:
Supplies to make belly mask
NoseFrida
Some organic/gentle baby wash/'poo
a couple BPA free bottles/pacis (JIC)
some nice PVC/BPA free bibs for when we intro solids
a bathtub thermometer (ours broke)
New casual and dressy diaper bags (ours are worn out)
A simple wooden teether
An infant car seat compatible stroller to borrow for the 1st 6 mo. or so
Can you offer any more ideas? I think that the minivan we need to fit a third car seat might be too much to ask...
