Marilyn Manson? - Page 3

When I first heard of him I didn't know he was a man. So when I saw a picture, I thought, that is the ugliest woman I have ever seen!

Just me chiming in.....

I like Manson, I only know a handful of his songs but I think I definatley dig what he does!

I saw him a Ozzfest last year.....and he put on an AWESOME stage show!!! I was really only there to see KORN who is my favorite!!! but I was quite impressed with Manson's show!!

I noticed another poster saying she stood out at the show and didn't follow the "dress code" wanna talk about standing out....okay picture this first off let point out I am mixed (black/white) and tend to dress very umm girlie/kinda glam on the rare occasions I get to go out with gasp...just adults....so here I am in a pair of black capris with rhinestines on them, with a pair of black and silver sandles, a sparkley tanktop.....while I am with my VERY Preppy boyfriend....and my VERY GOTH Bestfriend .....:LOL we made quite a match.....:LOL but he had a ball!!!

Gotta post this.

And have to start with quick musical background ... leaving out my religious leanings ...

I'm a Deadhead. Stopped counting shows when I passed 100, IYKWIM. And have never gotten past the loss of Jerry. RIP And haven't moved musically since he left the world ...

Okay. So that's out of the way ...

Back in 1997 when I was very pregnant with DS#1 (and we still had cable) I was just sort of sitting & zoning to MTV. A video by Marilyn Manson came on ... and while I'd heard of him, I'd never heard his music or seen him ... anyway, I think it was called "The Beautiful People."

This is no exaggeration: Before it even ended, I ran gagging into the bathroom. I threw up for hours after that video. Wasn't able to eat for a day. And had trouble sleeping for several days afterwards, and nightmares whenever I did fall asleep.

There wasn't anything overtly gross in the video that I recall ... but it effectedly me so hugely and so ... grotesquely ...

Can't even see his face without getting nauseated, to this day.

Is that really weird? Or what?

So here's how it connects to my "background" at the beginning of the post: When I told this story to someone just a few days after it happened, he said to me, "Well, of course you'd react that way to Marilyn Manson. He's the anti-Jerry."

:LOL (re the comment, not your experience, which sounded really awful)

I've never seen any Marilyn Manson videos, but I had a somewhat similar (though far less intense, or intensely physical) experience at and following a Ministry concert a friend and I saw back in the '80's. Dunno what subliminal images were interspersed with what they showed on the screens near the stage, but they were pretty horrible, leading to some extremely odd and graphically violent nightmares that night after the show.

There are two videos I can't watch because they are so gross and disturbing. One is "Tourniquet," where he is eating bugs and pieces of his dead skin, and the other is "Dope Show," where at the end he is dressed like a woman and is hobbling around looking insane, or something. It's kind of hard to explain...
