morning, all!
haven't been on here in a LONG time, but thought this would be the perfect place to share a great story...i'm a store clerk at a small, indie natural foods store in delaware, and just this weekend a gal came in and was purchasing bacon, eggs, butter, and cream by the case load, as well as a few steaks. i chuckled and asked her what kind of tart/quiche she was making, and she proceeded to tell us of this ketogenic diet that her 4 1/2 year old son is on--basically, he's had severe epilepsy for the entirety of his short life, fighting prolonged moments of unresponsiveness due to an onslaught of petit mal seizures (upwards to 100 a day i think she said)....they were fought tooth and nail by the hospital and doctors to NOT used the ketogenic diet, and were basically given an ultimatum of "use two of our prescribed drugs, and if they don't work do whatever you want." in proper storybook fashion, the drugs didn't work, only made the seizures worse and more frequent, allowing the parents to give the ol' finger to the institution and do their own thing....he's been on the diet for two weeks, and not a single seizure since. he did, however, have to be in the hospital for the first week as his body grew accustomed to the fat versus carbohydrate profile...regardless, his brain is being quenched and turning into quite the normal kiddo....
how amazing!
now i know that ketogenic is more synonymous with atkins than with fallon or NT, but she was going about it the right way...next step is to hook her up with a local amish farm and get the really good goods!
anywho...food for thought. and ditch the allopathic doctor...stinkers.
cheers!
