Exersaucer

Thread Starter
I always rejected the whole idea of walkers because of all the bad things I've heard but I never knew anything about exersaucers.

I think my DD (9 months) would love one, she loves to be bouncing, "walking", just always on the go. I always say Im her rollercoaster and honestly it's wearing me out. I cant afford one, but Im thinking of maybe asking my MIL to buy one for her bday. Is it worth getting one when they're one? For how long can they use them? And if any of you mamas have them, what has your experience been like with them?

Thanks for the help!

Hi,
DD1 loved hers until she could walk, then would only tolerate it for a few minutes at a time. I'd say get one, but do it through CL or through a garage sale, that way you aren't spending a fortune on something that your LO may only want for a month or two. DD2 likes it, but isn't quite as crazy about it as DD1 was.
That said, a push walker that turns into a ride on one toy may be a better bet for your $$..... DD1, who is 3 still plays with hers (it's now a stroller for her dolls- I'm scared I'll find DD2- 6 months old- in it one day).....

DS is 14 months old and still uses it daily. It is one of the only ways I get a shower! He is safely contained in it and content for 5-10 minutes while I dash in and out and get dressed. I started using it around 4 months as a safe place to put him while I helped my older DS with something, went to the bathroom, etc. He has been mobile since he was 5 months, so it has definitely been useful in keeping him in one spot safely when I need him to be.

I agree with the PP, get one used. Craigslist or a consignment store. You can get them for a fraction of the price you'd pay for a new one.

I got a like new exersaucer from a moms group for sale flyer for $20 and it was like new! I never used them for DS, but with #2 I suddenly needed safer places to put her for short amounts of time. Look on craigslit for sure, that is one of those items people give away for super cheap when they are done with them, as they are so big and bulky people want them out of their house fast.

We used one from about 5-9 months. Paid $20 for it, like new, and sold it for the same. Great for getting dinner made!

Exersaucers are great for 3 months -- 9/10 months.... but after that, when baby is going to be walking, it would just be in the way. A good ride-on/push toy would be good, or the other "center" type toys, but not something that contains baby that way. Baby should be moving, crawling, standing by then...

Ditto. I don't think we'd ever have food on the table if not for mine haha.
