Yogurt maker

Any recommendations? I'm sure there's a thread here, but I've looked through 4 pages and haven't seen it. We like the consistency of a yogurt that is thicker, so want to buy a yogurt maker. It doesn't need to be big. Thanks!

I have had very good success using my oven light. Follow the recipe and then leave the yogurt to incubate in the oven for at least 8 hours with the light on.

I have this one, which seems to be out of stock often at Amazon. I use a quart mason jar.

It would be nice to post some more info on this topic. I have also tried experimenting and making my own ice cream sometime ago.

What do you want to know?

I have used my yogurt maker for store bought milk, raw milk, and coconut milk. Heat milk to 180, cool to 110, add starter (1 T. plain yogurt or a pinch of GIPro starter) and food for microbes if doing nondairy (I usually use 2 t honey). I previously used any plain yogurt (usually Stoneyfield) as my starter. Now we are dairy free so I use GI Pro starter. I culture my yogurt and cool it. If I am flavoring it, I throw it in the blender with whatever flavorings. Since we are dairy free, I sometimes add a mineral supplement in to the coconut milk when I am heating it. For dairy I incubated 18-24 hours (longer is better if you have lactose or blood sugar issues), for nondairy about 12 hours. At the time I was using raw milk, I preferred thick yogurt, so I did heat it prior to culturing. Now I don't care so I don't add a thickener to my coconut milk yogurt.
