Is anyone on spark people? Want to share their food/fitness trackers? I'm always curious as to what other people do!
I've been doing it for about a week and I love it! It is really helping me wiht portion control and thinking about what/how much I'm eating. I don't know how to share, I havne't made a page or anything, but I wanted to share that I use it too.

I made a page. I need to go update my food and hopefully get some exercise in today.

I found the book in the bookstore and really like what I read. It has inspired me, already, and I haven't gotten all the way through it yet. I hope to find time to use the online stuff as a resources, as well, as I think it would be quite helpful.

I've been doing it and when I first started I lost 8 lbs pretty quickly However, I stopped tracking and gained it back. Then the book came out and I am back on the wagon. Thanks for the reminder.

I'll have to find the book.

Is there a MDC community on Spark People? I'm on the breastfeeding group already. I haven't lost weight yet but the accountability part is helping keep me on track. I'm in pain.

I used spark people a lot when I was just starting to learn about proper diet and exercise. It was good for meal suggestions and to help me learn how many calories I was eating on your average day.

I don't track anymore as I can mentally estimate and add up my caloric intake now, but I did find it very helpful to get me started.

I really want to check out the book too. I rarely buy books, but my library doesn't have it so I may have to break down and get it.

I honestly haven't done anything but the nutritional tracking and I've lost almost 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks!!! I've been walking at the YMCA too, but I think the eating is what's done it. After measuring portions and seeing how many calories things have, I'm amazed at how many calories I must have been eating! I have a lot to lose, it's recommending me lose 90ish pounds, but I'm thinking more like 60, well only 50 now!!

How many calories a day is it recommending for all of you? I didn't tell it I'm breast feeding because DS only nurses once, maybe twice a day with skipped days in there, and it's recommending I have 1200-1500 per day. I'm fairly surprised how easy it's been for me to stay with in that range.

That's amazing loss! Congrats!

It recommends 1200-1600 for me, but I didn't say I was bf because it won't let you join and makes you do babyfit which isn't as good, IMO.

So I edited my calories to say 1200-2000 b/c I vary a lot day to day, usually and my toddler is nursing more now than as a newborn!

Oh, I'm really glad I didn't tell it about nursing then! And, thank you! I'm really excited!

I'm curious about others, what's your recommended calorie range?
Mine is 1,210 - 1,560. I breastfeed 3xday but am not counting that (for some odd reason...) I know I still have strong letdowns and all, but since my guy is 2 almost, it feels like if my supply drops, it might not be a bad thing. Haven't noticed it happen, however.

Did someone say book?

Link please?

It tells me 1200-1500/day. which isn't enough- I'm still EBF, nursing ever 2-3 hours during the day and 3-4 at night.

Start by adding 500 to that. You should still lose weight. SparkPeople isn't for breastfeeding; you can use babyfit.com for that! But be warned: the babyfit people will recommend that you eat a lot to lose weight. It completely didn't work for me.

I've been on there for a couple of years. I lost about forty pounds before having DD. Most of it was with the help of Spark. I haven't used it but a couple of times since I'm nursing and seem to burn calories like crazy. If I start to gain though I'll go back to tracking.

Oh my name on there is Midnightmommy4.

My maintenence is 2300/day right now, so I'm doing 1800 for a pound a week.

I don't like babyfit. it's like Sparkpeople light. do not want.
