Can't believe that I am asking this question. I never thought that a pacificer was a good idea, but now I think he is using my breast as a pacificer at night. We co-sleep and he sucks all night long. When I give him a pacifier, he spits it out. Suggestions?

How long has he been sucking all night long? If it's recent it might just be a growth spurt, and your breasts need the extra stimulation to make more milk to support his new needs. I always just rode it out and after the growth spurt (or teething, or being sick) passed, it just eased up naturally.

I think you probably just have to be patient and keep trying until it seems familiar to the baby. You might also have to try more than one kind. If you are nursing on demand during the day, the baby does not have to breastfeed all night. Keep in mind that he/she probably still needs feedings during the night.

I second the trying different kinds. None of my 3 bf babies took the "orthodonic" style if that helps. DS #1 prefered Mam. DS #2 and DD liked/likes the nuk first essentials "cherry shaped" nipple with the classic round shaped shield. If you are trying to sneak it in while dc is sleep/nursing maybe hold it in your fist to warm it first.
I think pacies are great... in moderation, lol. My 1st child bf for 25 months and 2nd for 33 months. #3 in just 3 months. So the pacifer did not mess up bf. But I have seen it happen with others.

My older son still sucks a bink while at home. My younger son, has never really cared for them. I can prolly count on one hand how often hes actually used one.
