Dd and I have been battling thrush off and on for about a month, and I have been doing everything I can to rid us of it (everything except cut all sugar and starch out of my diet - I just don't have the willpower yet). Anyway, I may have discovered the culprit - the tubing to my 5 year old Pump In Style! I pulled it out in January to start building my stash for returning to work. I sterilized all the parts, except the tubing because you're not supposed to wash it. I noticed a couple of dried water spots inside the tubing, and wondered how water had gotten in there, but I didn't think that it would be hurting anything. Since I don't use it everyday, I noticed this week that I needed to treat for thrush again just after I had pumped and when I thought back, I realized this all started right after I had first started pumping with the electric again.
So just a word to the wise - you may want to get new tubing if you haven't used your pump in a while. A couple dollars could save a whole lot of headache (and nipple ache).
