Help make my shopping list!

I've only just found out yesterday that I'm pregnant and must now go shopping for stuff I need while pregnant.

So far I have to get:

-Folic acid OR prenatal vitamins but money is tight and folic is cheaper so I may just start with that

-coco butter for the belly (won't be getting until I can afford the prenatals though)

-RRL tea

What else should I add to the list? The prenatals will be the first thing I get.

if you have medical insurance that covers prescriptions (or even mostly covers them... Im not sure how Canadas medical stuff works) just have your doctor write you out a prescription for prenatal vitamins. They do that. And its cheaper.

RRL tea isn't necessarily essential. Its a nice thing to have if you want but I would focus more on necessities... like your prenatals and clothes that will fit you when your belly starts to get bigger.

As for folic acid... there are many food sources you can get it from so if you look those up and add enough of them to your daily diet you could feasibly go without having to take it in pill form. One of my favorite is to find a tasty and healthy breakfast cereal with high amounts in it.

Well I asked if the prenatals were covered and they said no. They only cost about $20 for the brands that I've seen in the pharmacy. The store brand is a little cheaper. They do cover one folic acid but the pharmacist told me it's to strong for what I need. She suggested a smaller dose and that only costs about $6,so once I get paid totally affordable. The BabyCebter or maybe BabyZone website said that at about 11 or 12 weeks you don't need the folic since the baby is all ready formed, but I'd feel better with it. I'll see if it's in face cereal then though as well Mini Wheats!!!! Healthy but still tasty enough to feel naughty! lol

I found some coconut milk body lotion that a former roommie left her and also some "mega butter" from bath and Body Works that I have from a while back. It has a bunch of stuff in it including shea butter. So that can be used for now.

I see the nurse to apply for the OLO (orange juice, milk and egg) program on the 24th and will check to see of they can provide me with vitamins as well since I thought I read that on their site and they also may have some samples.
