17 mo old asked for diaper change

My dd (17mo) has started communcating things and following directions really well. Like, when I tell her that we need to change her diaper, she'll lead me into her room and stand by her changing holding her arms up for me to pick her up. Well, yesterday she brought Daddy a diaper and said "change my diaper"!!!! And sure enough she had a poopy diaper! Does this mean she's ready to potty train? Should I act on this?

That's great!

At the very least you could start watching to see if you can tell when she's pooping and tell her "you're pooping" when she does so.

If you can realize before hand, this is an age when many kids are quite content to be put on a potty, so it can be a good chance to introduce the idea before the no reason nos kick in.

My kiddos started doing that and I started making the potty available to them when they did. Right now my little bitty one tells me and I rush him to the potty and he is really excited when he does it in the potty (he is 17 months as well) so I say go for it!
