Gussets

What are gussets? I keep hearing this term, but can't figure out what it means. Are they in the diaper and cover? Only in a certain kind of cover? Confused...

gussets are like a fold around the leg opening. I think they are made by sewing two different peices of fabric together. It helps to contain runny messes that might otherwise run down a babies' leg.. They are on rumperoos aios, but may be found on covers and perhaps even on fitted diapers depending on the design. Some people with babies with really chunky thighs don't like them, but those with skinnier legged babies probably would really want them.

here's a pic of the rumperoo style gusset

(scroll down just over halfway)..

you will see there is two sets of elastic on each leg.. that space inbetween them is the gusset technically I think (although the pic seems to point at the elastic gathers themselves).

This bummi cover also has a gusset.. you can just barely see two edges around the leg opening..

http://nickisdiapers.com/catalog.php?category=284 this pic seems to show the gusset a bit more clearly (maybe because of the color difference?)
