We welcomed Andrew Joseph, 6 lbs 3 oz and 18 1/2" and Benjamin Thomas, 5 lbs 11 oz and 19 1/2" on 2/13/10 at 7:27 and 7:29am. They were born at 37 w 1 d.
My birth story is pretty short. I had been trying to get my transverse babies to turn for weeks. My water began to trickle at 3:00am. Because we didn't know the exact position of the babies my OB had me come into the hospital. They determined that both babies were transverse and set up a c-section for 7:00am.
The surgery went well. I was surprised at how easily I accepted the final decision, happy that my OB let me go into labor on my own and have contractions for at least a couple hours, and things went well.
Honestly, I'll take 100 vaginal unmedicated births over this anyday but the recovery hasn't been bad at all. Both babies are great nurslings! And, it looks like I just may have identical twin boys. We can't really tell them apart unless we look at the size difference.
It was such a wonderful surprise! I'm so glad I chose not to find out. My eyes teared up with the announcement of the first boy and I was overjoyed to hear the announcement of the second. To find out that they were identical (or at least I'm 99% certain they are) was icing on the cake. So fun!
