growing number of states are pushing inmates out of prison in early release programs designed to reduce overcrowding and save money. But faced with a tight job market and few employers willing to hire someone with a criminal record, many former inmates are likely to end up right back behind bars

I'll have to forward that to my dad b/c he works for a company that helps convicts find jobs and employers get the tax credit offered for hiring said employees. (I didn't actually read the article yet, though, but thanks for sharing.)

Basically with the job market so tight, employers are not hireing convicted felons. So they have no where to go.

The comments were really interesting to read, as well.

I have wondered about this. It is hard for someone with a clean record to get a job. Someone with jail or prison time and a felony would have a very tough time getting hired I am sure. I know my SIL (who has been in and out of prison for drugs) had a hard time. She finally got a job with a sales company that paid great but didn't have good benefits like insurance.
