chocolate guilt

nak

after having gd during the preg & being very well behaved, getting my vbac & feeling so great...i asked dh for a box of chocolates for v-day & he got them

i have been eating a few pieces of chocolate a day since sunday & am feeling very guilty about it. plus people have brought over some other desserts that we have picked at too.

we don't normally eat this stuff or have it in the house-but i feel bad about nursing & eating crap...even if it is just a few days worth.

It's so funny what we avoid and what we don't! I consider chocolate a healthy part of my diet! I often eat a square or two of delicious dark chocolate several days a week. yum!

I'm also big on giving myself permission to do something. I weight the options and make an informed choice and then commit. If I do or don't do something I commit to it fully and don't let it hang over me thinking "I should have done" or "I shouldn't have done" etc. Life it too short to 'should' all over ourselves! Do or don't do - and don't feel bad about it - that's my motto.

I never feel guilty about chocolate. Enjoy the prepared meals!

Guilt? About chocolate? I'm finding it hard to wrap my mind around that.

Chocolate is not crap. (That is, if it's decent chocolate, not full of processed junk.) A new mother, a nursing mother needs to feel good. And chocolate is a sure-fire ticket to bliss. Go wild.

DD is a full-fledged female b/c even she comes up to me and says, "Piece of chocolate candy?"

u gals are super!!! i guess i felt like it was "against" all the typical bf'ing rules, not organic or "natural"...but it sounds like others enjoy a little treat too & recognize chocolates role in nature

it wasn't great high quality-it was one of those russell stover heart boxes but damn...it was good!!! if i have any more cravings i'll do something organic & extra dark though.

OMG chocolate - especially the darker kind and the European kinds (because they contain more cocoa solids) are high in antioxidants and iron! I love chocolate and as a previous poster said, consider it a good and healthy part of my diet! I'm not too keen on Hershey's but then again, I'm from England, where Hershey's would be considered "candy" and not real chocolate because of it's lower cocoa solids.

I like (and this is from both countries): Endangered Species chocolate, Ghiradelli, Dove, Galaxy, Cadburys, Lindt and many handmade chocolates including luscious truffles...mmmm!

Yummy yummy! I craved chocolate all the way through my pregnancy and now in the same way while I'm breastfeeding. I bet that has to do with iron... I plan to indulge whenever the craving takes me and I think you should do the same! Yay!

Plus chocolate has been made in one form or another all the way back to the ancient Mayan civilization - so in fact, one could term it an ancient ritual and a tradition, rather than a treat...
