Does it matter what brand of supplements I buy?

So, I'm all set to start on some supplements. I'm using guidelines from
"When Your Body Gets the Blues" and from "The Mood Cure."

It seems like there is a pretty big price range from the different brands. Am I losing potential benefits by buying the cheapest brand?

I'd love to hear any experiences you may have had, what brands you buy and if you are aware of any research on the subject.

TIA!

I have used different brands for amino acids and honestly NOW Foods have worked well for me and also tend to be the cheapest at my local vitamin store. For vitamins though, I go with professional grade mostly - Pure Encapsulations, Thorne, Kirkman Labs, Metagenics - because I have definitely seen a big difference there.

I've done a lot of searching/learning about supplements in the past few years and found out that many are synthetic and made in China. I get most of my supps through my N.D. so they are professional grade, however, the one company that I absolutely love and have seen a difference with is New Chapter. Their products are from organic whole food and more easily/fully digested than other brands. It's more expensive than others, but it goes on sale regularly at Sprouts for 25% off and if you buy $100 worth you can save ad additional 10%. I generally stock up during the sale times. Currently, We use the CoQ10, multivit for dh, and prenatal for me. hth
