Ultrasound results - reasurrance please

I've had 2 homebirths so this will be my 3rd and my 4th child. Due to 1st birth ending in c-sec. I go in to check placenta placement and the dr. is homebirth friendly so works with my midwife. This baby is lying transverse but plenty of time to move so no worries but the first thing that popped up on the screen was baby's head. And immediately was obvious the baby had a large black area in the brain and then a second on the opposite side which is called a choroid plexis cysts. He said they are seen with trisomy 18 but did a very thorough ultrasound with tons of measurements and thought it was unlikely to be this. I will go in again later to see if they shrink and if they do the baby should be perfectly healthy. I've left a message for midwife to get additional advice per safe to homebirth or should I get a back-up.
Haven't heard back so she may be at another birth and thought I'd get some btdt reassurance and advice from other moms. Feeling a bit nervous and a little emotional as my other little one had surgery a few days ago that was unexpected.
Thanks!

Can't send any BTDT advice/reassurrance, just hugs! What a thing to have to wait and see about. Hold your peace, mama, and know that hugs are sent your way.

I haven't BTDT, but my cousin has. With both her first and second babies she had rather large cysts on her 18 week sono. They shrank and were completely gone by the 3rd trimester.
It was very stressful for them to wait and see.
I hope that you can find some peace and reassurance while you wait.

my sister got some weird ultrasound results that part of the baby's brain was not growing as fast as another part. It worried her to death until her next ultrasound where everything was normal. Give it time and think positive, what other choice do you have!

My son had Choroid plexus cysts. He had one that was 6.5mm at his 20week ultrasound. They were gone by 25weeks and he's a perfectly normal (actually, he's extremely bright) 1yo. now. The ultrasound dr.'s son had them too and was normal.

Thanks ladies - I've been reading positive stories and am pretty confident this will go well. I'm most hoping there is no reason to change plans for a homebirth - that is something I would need to find an OB and so forth as the other dr. only does ultrasounds. I mentioned this to him and he just told me to wait until the next ultrasound and decide at that time. I'm not sure I'm that patient especially since I want to find a friendly dr. for a particular hospital if need be.

NAK

Our 20 wk scan showed chroid plexus cysts and a slightly increased nuchal fold measurement. We were told the two together increased our chances for down syndrome and trisomy 18 to 1/100. Last week, after spending a good portion of the pregnancy worrying, I gave birth to a big, healthy, 10 lb 5 oz baby boy at home. I sometimes wish we never had that ultrasound in the first place.

eta: Because of the increased risk of cardiac anomalies with down syndrome, we did do a fetal echocardiogram because we felt that a cardiac anomaly were the one thing we would not want to deal with at a homebirth.
