Anyone start homeschooling knowing eventually your children will have to go to public school?

Anyone start homeschooling knowing eventually your children will have to go to public school? Did that, or how did that, affect how you homeschool?
I started homeschooling my older children with the intention of homeschooling until high school (as it turns out the older two have gone to grade eight & my third probably will too)
I planned on homeschooling my little ones until high school but my life blew up and now it looks like I'll have to send them to public school in about 4-5 years (so they will be 6/7 years old and 8/9 years old) I'm trying to figure out how I should figure this into my homeschooling plans. My first thought is I should definitely be more structured but I'm not sure exactly how I'll go about it.
Any thoughts?

We are just starting, but yes we are starting with the intention the boys will go to public school (or private) in the 4th to 6th range -- depends on where we live, the boys, movings stuff, carreer stuff for DH and so on. They will be home though 3rd no matter what and in school my middle school -- the middle is gray.

For us -- we plan to stick to a more formal "school at home" approach and to strive to be at or ahead of "common grade levels". However, we would likely do both of thoese things even if we meant to HS till graduation -- it is kinda how momma "thinks:

We will also stick to a Aug 1 to June 1 school year -- rather than a birthday school year or a actual year school year -- so make that transtion easier.

Aslo for us it means maintaining the IEP for our older (and younger if he quals) and accessing as many services as we can so that we know the people, services are in place for him / them and so the publiuc school system is not odd to them. (and so there is documentation that the challanges are not the result of not being in school )
