Aiming Boys

My son is intact. His urethra opens towards the top of the tip. In order to keep him peeing in a sink, toilet, or potty, I need to oint it almost straight down, which seems to cut off the flow. If I don't aim, he pees everywhere. What do other mamas of boys do?

I also have to point straight down and my son is circumsized. I've quizzed my husband and to him, it doesn't seem to cut off the flow. His theory is that G is still learning to control the flow, figure out how full his bladder is, etc. Maybe try to aim your son's body in a way that you don't have to point the penis so far down?

I can't with G because he is a 36 lb. 2.5 year old....

You could try peeing him in the tub. That way it is okay if it shoots straight out & you will be able to observe exactly how it comes out & how it changes as you push his penis down. I bet if you do this for a lil while you will get better at aiming him in the sink & toilet.

I need some help w/ this too. I've heard lots of people saying to use my index finger to aim, but when I'm holding him on the large toilet (sans seat insert b/c we don't have one), then I either need a REALLY long index finger or a third hand, lol. When I'm holding him in the classic position, I can sort of extend "a" finger out (not necessarily the index one) to sort of push the penis down slightly, but when I do that, it sometimes seems that it pulls on the foreskin a little and ends up pointing the opening back up. So I can't win either way. If I don't aim, he'll pee everywhere and if I do aim, he'll still pee everywhere. lol

Are you all standing or sitting them to have them pee? When my ds was young enough to have to sit I used a little potty that was all one piece and then the pee would bounce down into the little potty off of the front wall if it wasn't aimed down enough. Once he could stand I would stand him on the edge of the tub/sink/toilet or on the ground in front of his potty and as long as I leaned his body forward I could aim him down enough to go in. When he got older and started going on his own he doesn't usually aim at all but just stands back from the potty and lets it arc into the bowl.
