How do you get past a reluctance to reinvest money?

OK, I'll admit it-- I'm cheap. I think if I want to keep going with my business-- and I do, I have several new ideas for books and maybe a monthly thing-- I really need to invest in web design, including a re-do of my blog, maybe get involved with Lulu for people to get hard copies, get my own domain name, advertising, stuff like that. But it all seems soooo expensive. And on the one hand, with me selling ebooks, it's not like I have tons of overhead. OTOH, I purposely have things priced pretty low because I want them to be affordable, but it means I'm not making tons.

Anyway, my questions are
1. How do you get over the psychological hump and reinvest money in your business?

2. If you have time to look at my site and blog, what would you recommend I have done?

3. How much should I be looking at spending. I don't even have a clue.

Before deciding whether to reinvest or not, first figure out what you want to accomplish and what the results will be of that accomplishment (ie. I want to try direct mail and get 100 sales within 90 days, something tangible). Then figure out how much what you want to do will cost and how much the result is worth (how much will the direct mail campaign cost and how much profit is to be made on 100 sales). Is your goal reasonable based on the accomplishment? Ie., how many mailers have to be sent out to get 100 sales based on the list you are using? How much will that cost? That is when you can decide if it is worth investing more or not into your project.

As for your site, it loads very slow - there is another thread in this forum that I posted for another mother and it was with some resources and details on setting up Wordpress - that would be a great first step. Please refer to my comments here:

Well, I got a host today (a small orange, and I used a coupon, ) and I'm installing Word Press. Hopefully.
