I love my workplace.
I told my boss yesterday that we're expecting another child. I had to tell her early because contracts for next school year come out March 1. My job currently requires a bit of overnight village travel, and I'm not comfortable doing that with a newborn at home, and taking the kid with me isn't an option in most villages. Before I signed my contract, I wanted to make sure that she understood that, at least for next school year, I would NOT be traveling next year. I told her that while some mothers are comfortable leaving small babies alone overnight, I'm not.
Her response... "Totally, and I wouldn't be either."
She went on to say that the school district has an informal policy encouraging/allowing extra nursing/pumping breaks and with mothers not traveling, and that the only issue I'm likely to run into is *ME* feeling bad about taking on less work.

Seriously, this school district has been a joy to work for when it comes to family-friendliness. I almost feel guilty at times when I hear about struggles that other people have.
