I'm SNORING!

Before Pregnancy, I would occasionally snore, but only when on my back.
Now (24 weeks) I think I am snoring like all the time (when asleep), and it's on my left side that it seems the worst. I didn't care too much when it started (or worsened) a few weeks ago but now hubby is having to wake me up to roll over and I am getting ticked off (not towards him because he was very good until now).
What can I do? Short of moving to the guest room! I am thinking it's related to prego stuffiness which I don't think is very pronounced but I do feel like my sinuses are... different...kind of hard and gluey... than they were before and I am definitely sleeping with my mouth hanging open most of the time, as noted in the extreme drool puddles left under my chin. I use a neti pot regularly and don't really feel congested just like I can't breathe enough when I am settled in for the night.

Sleep apnea during pregnancy is correlated with preeclampsia, so be on the lookout for that. I don't snore outside of pregnancy, but my husband noticed that I was snoring a lot and gasping in my sleep when my BP started to go up around 26 weeks. (They don't know if preeclampsia is more likely because of lack of oxygen to the placenta from sleep apnea, or if the apnea happens because the body is busy trying to compensate for the placental issues.)

Sure enough, my highest blood pressures were always in the middle of the night.

That's not to say that every woman who snores ends up with preeclampsia, so please don't be worried! It's just something to be mindful of. Can you try sleeping sitting up? When I was more elevated, I snored less.

I'm snoring too ( and did in the last pregnancy as well ). DH puts up with it or moves to another room. He is a dear. I say bah whatever... at least you are getting some sleep. It is likely just temporary and totally normal!

I'm also snoring and I snored during my first pregnancy. I never snore otherwise and haven't had any blood pressure issues during pregnancy so far. I am just constantly slightly congested while pregnant and that causes the snoring. I think it's a really normal pregnancy symptom.

I just started getting all stuffy, too (I'm 33 weeks so a little later than you), and DH has been getting really crabby about it - waking me up to tell me "you sound like a scuba diver!". But he's been pretty good about going with either earplugs or moving into the baby's room... I don't think the neti pot does much (I'm doing it too) when it's just due to extra blood and fluid in the nasal passages. Maybe he'll be more understanding if you tell him how many other pregnant women have the same thing going on?

totally doing this too! i feel bad for my husband, poor guy. he finally bought earplugs the other day.

i'm not feeling stuffy to the point of having breathing problems, but definitely experience more mucous, especially at night, and the gluey thing too. and my bp is on the rise .

bokonon, how would i be on the lookout for sleep apnea? my husband says he CAN'T wake me, and certainly hasn't said i'm gasping or not breathing.

Well I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one (not that snoring seems like an unusual symptom, all things considered). I am a bit worried about my BP it tends to run on the higher side and last Dr visit I had to do the "best of three" to get an average- mind you just thinking about my Dr raises my BP so maybe it's not really a symptom!
