Paola Leilani

or

Leilani Paola

Any thoughts?

i like leilani more as a first name.

Seeing that barely anyone will ever know her middle name, this is really about the first names. So it depends on whether you want your kid's first name to sound:

a) ethnic Hawaian/hippie

b) Italian

Personally, I am uncomfortable with the appropriation of Native names by people not of those ethnic groups (although if you are actually Hawaian, please disregard). It just seems...crass.

So I would go with Paola.

Pay ola ...... sounds like money, cash, currency.

Lie laney..... I don't think most folks will say or spell this right and your child will have to say and spell it for teachers and others her whole life. Trust me.. that gets old fast.

Although my grandmother's name was Paola (pronounced POW-lah) I just don't see it for a little girl. Leilani is pretty.

I think they're both great names, and you can't go wrong with either. Though I am tending slightly towards Leilani because it's more distinct in sound from Carola. (Though Paola and Carola are closer together in style)
