Late birth announcement
O.K., this is absurdly late, since my little man is now 14 weeks old, but I'll post anyway.
DS rushed into the world 10 days before his due date. He was due March 4, but arrived Feb. 22. It was a FAST labor, made faster by the fact that for a long time I wasn't sure I was in labor (nor was my midwife) as my pains were constant, not in waves. I thought perhaps I was having some bad indigestion. Then once we realized I was in labor we still thought it was early labor (though I confess now to thinking, "if this is early labor and it already hurts this badly, I'm in deep trouble.") An hour and forty minutes after my water broke, my beautiful son was born. We never made it out of the bathroom and into the livingroom where we had planned to have that waterbirth tub set up and a fire going. Oh well. It's just given me a whole new appreciation of my bathroom. My husband caught him. The midwife arrived as DS was crowning and showed my DH where to put his hands. DS slipped out, a pale blue, but he quickly pinked up. He was and is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. He was 7 lbs, 12 oz and 19 3/4 inches at birth. He is now over 15 lbs and 24 inches -- he doesn't miss many meals.
We are all deliriously happy, even if too busy and frazzled to get to the computer often.
