what is a good "natural" or "organic" pacifier?

Are there any good pacifiers?
I am pg with first baby and like the idea of a pacifier in certain possible situations, so I want to have one on hand.
What is a good one that is made of the best material? And for a little new baby, so a small one.
And where can I find one online?
also- which type of nipple shape on it is best?
thanks

A good natural pacifier? Breasts!! Sorry, I couldn't resist!

I don't actually have a real answer for your question. My DS would have nothing to do with a pacifier. I really think it depends on your baby (both whether or not they will even use one and also what type). I've also read that it's important to not introduce one for the first 6 weeks as it can mess with breastfeeding (nipple confusion and your milk supply).

I bought a Natursutten with the round nipple. My DS really likes it. I also use the Soothie brand because he likes that one too. In fact sometimes if we are going for a long outing I will bring both because one will work better than the other. He hasn't liked any of the ones with hard mouth guards. It was recommended on my DDC board to have a round nipple to lessen the chances of biting. My DD was a biter so I heeded that advice. My neighbor has the Natursutten orthodontic and her baby is not biting. I had bought several different ones to try. I was a human pacifier with my DD and it was just too much for me. With this baby being #3 and the other 2 having activities I wanted something to soothe the baby temporarily. My DD would have nothing to do with a pacifier. This baby takes it on ocassion and prefers to fall asleep with it rather than at the breast. I introduced it at around 2 weeks because I was confident with breastfeeding. My 1st DS only took it when we were in the car.

Soothie is made of silicone and often used in hospitals. So I don't think it fits your natural or organic request. But my son does like it.

Natursutten is made of rubber with the protein removed so there is no risk of allergy. This one also has a loop on the end so you can attach a strap so you don't lose it. Here is a link so you can see what it is (Not a store endorsement, just an easy link to share): http://www.kangarooboo.com/product/d...-for-03-Months

Thanks for the link! I will get one of those nattursutten ones I think. I know it is a controversial topic a little but I don't care! I just want to have one on hand in case I find it useful, if I know the baby is very well fed by my breast and my nipples need a break from pacifying type sucking I don't see it as a problem, or if it felt like a problem I just wouldn't use it!

I started out with a Soothie but it made my DD's latch much worse - I felt like she was kneading my nipple against something hard in her mouth. Chiro recommended a pacifier with a NUK style mouth shape and the kneading feeling went away almost immediately (lessened within hours, disappeared within days). My LC recommended a MAM paci. Apparently their shape encourages correct tongue movement while suckling.

As for material, I have no idea. Other than pp's suggestion of breasts, lol. (sometimes breasts don't work as a paci, but sometimes they do)
