painful burps?

My 7 mo is having painful burps today. He burps, then cries. What could be causing this?

He is currently sick- I'd guess it's a cold and/or bronchiolitis.

He also has eczema which seems to be food related, but I haven't pinpointed any foods yet. I'm currently on an elimination diet.

Ideas?

Maybe he has a sore throat, and the force of the burps amplifies it?
