Should I wake my baby? (Questions about schedule)

Hello all

I'm considering going back to work part-time in about 2 months. I figure now might be a good time to work out a "schedule", so that the transition is easier. My DS will be about 7 months old then.

I don't plan on setting a strict schedule, but we're all over the place right now. DS will wake in the morning anytime between 7:30 and 11:30 am. Which means his nap's will be random times during the day. We usually put him to bed at the same time (about 10 pm, because that's when I go to bed! He doesn't really seem too tired until then anyway).

We co-sleep, and I sleep when baby does. But if I start getting up, should I wake baby too? Or is it better to let him sleep until odd hours of the day?

(I hope this is in the right forum, I'm sorry if it's not!)

We started a very loose schedule when DD was around 12 months. Once we got up at the same time every day for a week the rest just kind of fell into place. I would say try waking up within 30 minutes of the same time every day for a week or two and see how it goes. If it's not working for you guy you can always back off for a few weeks.

If you think it will help the child sleep at better times you can wake them when you wake, if they are too tired they will fall back asleep quickly. General routines the kid can follow into can be nice in the day, just know that babies don't always follow along

Waking at the same time every day is THE KEY! But.....you should do it every day, even on the weekends. My dh and I take turns sleeping in on the weekends, so it's easier for both of us to stick to the kids' routine.
