Same brand of HPT, different sensitivity?

Since my other post was probably too long and complex, I am editing to simplify.

Is is possible to get a clear not-so-faint positive on an hpt and then have the lines be very faint for the next two days using the same brand of tests, due to varying levels of sensitivity across the same brand? Could the first test have just been quite a bit more sensitive?

yes, but it could also depend on how concentrated your pee was as well. Even after getting dark lines, if I drank more water than I had been one day my lines would be lighter for a couple days before getting as dark again.

hCG does not double overnight and in the beginning the levels are so low that even doubling doesnt do much (12 to 24 isnt a huge jump... a FRER would pick both up but many other tests wouldnt)

The first test I got a clear positive on was Answer, with SMU, 11dpo, held for about 2.5 hrs, with nothing to drink. The first lighter test was also an Answer, SMU, nothing to drink. I drank a fair amount of water the night before, but not a HUGE amount. This morning's Answer was about the same as yesterday's, but FMU, some water the night before but not a huge amount (trying to concentrate my pee!). I took a FRER about 3 hrs. after this morning's Answer, drank about half a glass of water after first test because I was extremely thirsty. The FRER was about the same as the Answer. I guess all I can do is wait at least a day, or two, and test again. I have a 16 day LP and AF isn't due until Tuesday, but I suppose DPO is what counts when it comes to hcg levels.

I am always loyal to FRER and with my 3rd, I had given up by 11 dpo because my other two were bright pink by 10 dpo but on 11, there was a line that only my eyes could see LOL then 12, nothing, then 13 barely there again. I never really got a strong positive with him but he's 100% here and almost two!

I'd *say* to wait a few days and try it again with FRER but I myself would test *for* the next several days

Very best of luck to you!

the amount it took in the beginning to dilute my pee would be comparable to maybe one bottle of water more than I had had the day before... really was enough even though it didn't seem like much at the time. When you are dealing with such low levels... almost anything can mess with it.

Thanks for the well-wishes, and sharing your experience--sounds a lot like what's going on with me, and makes me feel better.

And I have 5 tests (one dollar tree, 2 answer, 2 frer) so I can almost guarantee I'll end up testing daily !

Yes, this really makes sense. I had a good-sized cup of decaf after I took the SMU Answer test yesterday--my bladder was FULL. And I haven't been drinking as much as usual--really, not enough--for a few days, so I would think that even an extra glass of water would have a diluting effect.

Thanks!

Sigh. Negatives on FRER and $Tree with FMU this morning. I drank quite a lot of water last night, so I'm really hoping that's why. I'm going to hold w/out drinking for a few hours and test again. It just seems like after 3 days my hcg would have increased more than this. I hate this emotional roller coaster!

3boobykins- hang in there. Like everyone said it it could just be diluted if you drank. Good luck
