Can I make this hat with different sized needles than reccomended?

I want a simple baby hat to knit, I found this one http://www.knitwits-heaven.com/baby_hat2.htm Except, I don't have the size 3 reccomended knitting needles, but I do have a pair of size 6 (which is seriously sooo small, I can't imagine knitting with a sz 3!!) would that screw up the pattern a bit or could I make it work? How?

Also oif it doesn't work, what kind of baby hat (simple) can I make with a size 6?

Are you on Ravelry? I ran a pattern search for baby hats with size 6US needles - there are so many to choose from!
