Awake times in a 7month old

I keep expecting my 7 month old to suddenly be able to stay happily awake for longer periods of time. I'm not sure if my expectations are really unreasonable for this age or if my DD is a little late in getting there.

She basically lasts 1 1/2 - 2 hours from wake up (nap or morning) until she's tired again. Sometimes less than that. She doesn't take the greatest naps (average about 45 minutes) but even when I'm able to get her to nap longer (like 1 1/2 hours) she's still really tired soon after.

When should I expect her to stay awake longer between sleep times? Are there other babies her age who also can't stay awake that long?

I think it varies widely. But needing a nap every 2 hours or so doesn't seem excessive. Is she getting enough sleep at night? I found that once my baby (10 months now) started sleeping 10-hour stretches, she only naps twice a day now.

My DS is that age and just like that! He is usually down for his first nap of the day about an hour after he wakes up. Throughout the day he is rarely awake for more than 2 hours at a shot.

Mine is like that - he goes down for a nurse and nap every 1.5 to 2 hours. And the "nap" part only lasts while he's nursing, or maybe 15 minutes after I get up if I'm lucky!

Mine too! 7 month old, and sleeps maybe 9 hours at night, (not straight through) and then up for 2-3 hours and nap for 45 min to 1hr. If she does not nap enough she starts getting really cranky too.
