Does anyone have a link to a really good, professional, easy-to-read, not too long, article that sums up why 2 year olds' tv viewing should be limited?
In particular tv and its effect on speech/social/cognitive development, and possibly long term statistics linking screen time to later success in school/college? Also, something that addresses the issue of background tv and its effects. I know I'm asking for a lot here!
I've been googling but can't find quite what I'm looking for.
I can post more details about the situation later but I'd really like to find something to print out while I'm at work, to discuss with my SO tonight.
I'm looking for some backup for my argument that interactive tv watching is not as '"quality" as interactive play w/a parent, and why interactive play is preferable and more important than watching "educational" tv all day. I'm NOT anti-tv but I feel that it should have limits and not be the primary source of entertainment, and that if it is not being actively watched, it should be turned off.
Thanks!
