Sunglasses for baby?

Do any of you have sunglasses for your babies? I don't think I've ever seen a baby wear them, but I would like to protect my poor baby's retina if at all possible when we're outdoors. We're taking a trip to Florida so I was thinking of getting a pair, but it would be just as important here in the midwest as well.

Hi, we are in Florida and we have a pair of Frubi sunglasses for our 8 month old. They are adjustable (and should last for a very long time fit wise) and close with velcro and stay on pretty well. Hope that helps.

Once DS was old enough to wear sunscreen we would let him be outside uncovered and he wore sunglasses. I can't remember what kind they were but he loves sunglasses now.

DS wears sunglasses most of the time. We had to by pass the baby sunglasses though and get small childrens sunglasses with a strap added to help keep them on. The baby sunglasses weren't dark enough for their purpose. DS is sensitive to light.

Thanks for the replies. Good to hear other people are concerned about protecting their babies eyes. I wonder why I don't ever see babies wearing sunglasses. I guess it never really occurred to me until yesterday when we had a really sunny day and I put on my sunglasses to protect MY eyes and realized I had another little person to worry about now.

How old is old enough for sunscreen? Any favored brands?

You might try these. I haven't bought them yet, but am thrilled that they are now half off. They also have other options too on their site.

If anyone has bought these, would love to hear your experience.

We have www.babybanz.com sunglasses. We have them for my 5 yr old and for my 1 yr old. My son, the five year old, heavily prefers traditional sunglasses, unless he's upside down on the swingset or something. The baby wore them a little bit when she was about 6 months, but only if you kept her heavily distracted while putting them on. As soon as you went into any shade, she'd yank them off. Now, at a year, she pulls them off no matter what. We live in southeast TX and I'd really prefer she wear them. But whatcha gonna do? Beat her?

As far as the sunglasses themselves? They are GREAT quality, look comfortable, don't leave red marks, were shipped fast, etc. I have no complaints about them.

I have used these in the past, (mine are not babies any more) I was very pleased with them.

Oh, shoot! I wish I had seen these. I went ahead and bought the babybanz for twice as much money. Though it looks like only the pink ones are 1/2 off.
