Input needed on Mogen Clamp and lidiocaine

Graphic Images of the actual procedure

So as I as reading this many doctors start to use this technique in the US hospitals and then they say they use it with lidocaine .

They say when they use it with the lidocaine that the babies sleep through the whole procedure and i'm just wondering if where missing half the story there ?

Because when babies supposedly fall asleep during a circumcision they pass out from shock and if that happens so quickly with that procedure at the beginning for a baby to fall supposedly asleep that whole procedure is way more painful right ?

Yes, the appearance of 'falling asleep' is the body going into shock. I believe this can be told by elevated vitals, but I'm not sure. I wonder if they've ever even tried. Much easier to just think they 'go to sleep' than to check and learn the truth.

So if it's done with lidocaine so does the lidocaine put them into the shock right away after being strained because believe me when brendan had big tantrums as a toddler he would get so upset and vomit . He sometimes would just turn fridgid stiff as if he was out of breath from all that screaming .

So it's too bad they do put monitors on wee little babies during circumcision but i bet if they did the monitors would be beeping like crazy because the heart rate would proably be way high even with a local .

I just wanted to add that lidocaine hurts like a motherf*&#$ when injected. That alone would be excruciating for an infant.

The wording of it alone is just disgusting crush line.. virtually painless...

I can't look at the pictures, b/c DS is right next to me playing PBS kids on the other computer.

From what I have read on the subject, the Mogen clamp is considered less painful than other methods. However, they have a greater risk of accidental amputation of the glans.

I have serious doubts about sleeping through the whole procedure though. I suspect they strap the poor baby into the restraint give them the lidocain then wait till they pass out from sheer exhaustion from wailing and terror. Remember simply being separated from the mommy is very stressful at this age.

Cause ya know....getting a needle with burning lidocane in the base of your penis is as pleasant as being licked by puppies....

Don't forget that on top of this, they now have an open wound in a diaper with urine. I bet that feels just wonderful!
