goat's rue powder

I've been taking fenugreek and blessed thistle to increase my supply and it's been working pretty decently, but I feel like DS usually wants a bit more than he gets, so I've been thinking of adding goat's rue to the mix.

I'm not really willing to pay the price for the tincture, but I've found goat's rue in powder form for quite a reasonable price. Have any of you used it in powder form? How much do you take and in what way (in juice?). Does it even work well in powder form?

Also, I've noticed a lot of warnings not to take goat's rue without the guidance of an herbalist or doctor or something. I gather it could be risky if you have diabetes, which I don't, but is it risky to just start taking it on my own initiative?

Have you found much info yet? I received a bulk order of powder, and have not found instructions on proportions for a tincture. I'll just wing it I guess. Good luck!

I've taken Motherlove More Milk Special Blend capsules before. It has goat's rue, fenugreek, etc, and I did notice that I was making more milk. I have PCOS and I really noticed a difference after starting a product with Goat's Rue. I don't know about the powder though. It was just easier for me to take the capsules. It does help though, you just would have to use a lot of it.

Well as I've looked around a little more I think the way one is supposed to handle it is to buy a capsule filling machine and fill your own capsules. It looks like you can get a small one for pretty cheap, but I haven't done it yet.

I tried taking small amounts with honey or in a spoon of yogurt, but it was pretty awful - my mouth still got coated with power and I wasn't willing to do that several times a day. Yuck. So the bag is just sitting there, but I'm not in as much of a rush since DS finally started gaining better.

Kerry's Herbals' Nursing Mother Tincture includes Goat's Rue, FWIW.
