I am reading this book and it is awesome. The author has a Cornell Ph.D. in Sociology, I believe, and has thoroughly researched her subject. I thought that many of you would be interested in the history of how homemaking became marginalized in our society/economy and how the lack of "home" has impacted our lives.
This is not referring to homemakers who merely consume and chauffeur, but homemakers who develop skills and make their homes units of production. True, old-fashioned self-reliance without the need to invite corporate values and products into the home. I am REALLY enjoying this and thought many of you would as well.
It is called "Radical Homemakers: Reclaiming Domesticity From A Consumer Culture" by Shannon Hayes. I got it on Amazon but you can also read about it on the author's website
Sooo good, I can't stop reading!
