Overpaying

I know $2 isn't a big deal, but I hate when you buy something in a specialty shop and think it is amazing only to go to Canadian Tire a month later and see the exact same thing for $2 cheaper.

Really, how much research and shopping around are you expected to do for a product that costs $6 (or $4 if you shop at Canadian Tire)?

I just bought frozen pizza that was in the circular on sale for two for 10, then went to a different store (that had NOT advertised this sale in THEIR circular) for two for nine. Ugh.

I really don't like when that happens! My fav is when you buy something at Costco, only to go in on your next visit and see it's on sale. I have to admit I've gone back to get a few $$ back. Oh, but that was before I had a baby! Now I wouldn't have the time, and I'd be upset.

This happens all the time.
I try not to sweat it because $1 or $2 is not worth the amount of time I may have had to spend finding that savings, or worse having to go backtrack running around to get my money back. Woulda been nice to save a couple bucks in the first place, but definitely not worth my gas and time to get the better price after the fact!

I don't tend to worry about it unless it's something I buy often. If it's a one time thing and I could have saved $2 I think it would have been nice, but I don't sweat it. If it's something I buy a lot (such as diapers) and I could have save $2 every time, that would add up to more money.

$2 is definitely worth the convenience of buying something when I need it.

In the end, if I tried to add up all of the small amounts I didn't save because I couldn't predict that something would go on sale next week, I'd probably go bonkers.

Yes, it's annoying to buy something and then see it on sale, but there really isn't much you can do about it if the sale is not on at that very moment. Sometimes you can't wait to see if something is going to be on sale next week. Do research, but to some degree your time is worth money, too.

I value my time also. But I try to save my sanity by:

checking the flyers every week for who is having what on sale
Shopping the stores I know to usually be lowest in price
Some stores I frequent will store-credit me the difference if I bought an item at their store and it is now on sale at their store
Bringing sale flyers from various stores into walmart and just doing all my shopping there. It annoys the cashier, but walmart price matches with their competitors, then I get all my shopping done in one trip instead of waltzing around town, kids in tow, and have gotten all the sale prices.

I am sure I could save a few more dollars every week, but I'm certain my husband is willing to forgo those dollars to have peace in the household.

I think I'm just peeved that I assumed this store had unique products, when in reality I could get it from a big box store. The really sad news is that I bought it a month ago and still haven't used it yet
