I'm back - but with an O and illness question.

DH and I went to FL for this past week, and had a great, relaxing vacation. We got back late last night... and I think my dinner gave me food poisoning or something. I was up all night throwing up, and woke up with a low-grade fever. At this point, the nausea is gone, but I still feel like I was hit by a truck.

Not that I have a one-track mind... but I'm supposed to O tomorrow. I got a smiley on my OPK this afternoon. How does being sick impact O?

Well... it could hold off O but if it was just a minor case of foodpoisoning its more likely not to...

so likely the only impact will be if you cant manage to DTD

Well, I am sure I O'ed either ON or the day AFTER I had a random horrible case of mastitis, fever and all. And I got a big fat BFP either 6 or 7 days later

So there is hope!

Thank you both!

Mae - I'd find a way to do it, even if I had actually been hit by a truck, lol.

Amilia - Your children's names are beautiful!!

Do either of you think the fever (99 - 99.5) will affect/kill sperm? I feel better today, but when I took my temp it's still showing that I'm slightly feverish.

nope... its about 102 that starts to effect our reproductive cells. which is why they say to avoid that body temp for prolonged time once in the TWW or actually pregnant...

99.anything can be a healthy body temperature for some people.

You wouldn't get a fever from food poisoning. I think illness is more likely the cause (especially if you still feel like you were hit by a truck), and illness can delay O because stress etc can, and being sick can be considered stress. It will also make your charting harder to read because your temps will be higher than what they would normally be and not give you an accurate coverline. So really pay attention to your secondary signs like CM. The smiley on the OPK is a good sign so i say keep DTD if you can stomach it!
