Anyone else have funny nickname(s) for baby-to-be yet?

DH and I have taken to calling it "The Thing."

This started because I was shocked (SHOCKED) to see a heartbeat at my dating u/s - I thought I was barely 5 weeks, and was actually 6.5 weeks. I called DH and told him "yeah...I saw the thing's heartbeat and everything!"

I realized I'd just called it "the thing" and DH thought that was an awesome name...so it's kind of stuck!

Anyone else?

We just call our "thing" the "bug"...my DS was just the "peanut"

I'm calling this one blobby

Ember - I started off with two embryos, the pretty one with eight round cells and a nice zona got called Ember, the one with seven cells and a big empty spot and some scrambled bits of cells got called Egbert.

Can't tell for sure, but I'm guessing it's Ember who stuck.

Spuncle has even latched on to Ember as the kid's actual name, but I don't think so.

blob. DD was Smudge b/c that's how big she was when we found out. This one was blob shaped so we call it Blob.

hubs recently started calling ours seedling - since it's the size of an apple seed this week We'll see how long that sticks.

We're calling it pumpkin since I'm due right around Halloween. But since it's so small right now we're callng it pumpkin seed or seedling.

I just started calling my growing baby puppy-poo 2. DS is the original puppy-poo, but he HATES that nick name. I only use it to refer to DS after he's gone to bed. But now I can freely say "puppy-poo" when he is awake, too

We call ours Brownie. We're both brown people, and when we were baking brownies several years ago, we were talking about how awesome it would be when we had our own little brownies. Man, we're so corny!!!

I think "Brownie" is ridiculously awesome! Hehehe.

We don't have a semi-permanent nickname yet. I saw here on MDC a couple of years ago where someone called theirs "the gherkin" because they liked to say they "had a gherkin lurkin'", which is cute, but won't stick. Now I am trying to think of an appropriate baked good in open envy of Brownie!

Our first was "Pie!" I had initially thought this one would be "Muffin," but it looks like we're going with The Thing.

Lentil!

We decided on "Lentil" early on, mostly because we wanted something a little different from "Bean" which most of our friends used. Funny enough, a lot of websites describe the baby's size as a lentil during the 6th week

My DH and DS are crazy about legos so we are calling it the "mini-fig".

Mini-figs are the little lego guys.

Last night, DH called it "the Pound Cake," which is so perfect it's sure to stick. I make a wonderful pound cake that's DH's favorite...

Taddy, short for Tadpole, because I told my partner "The baby is this big, and it has flippers and a tail!" and he didn't believe me and said, "You're growing a tadpole instead of a baby?!" He must have failed the Reproductive section of Biology in elementary school because he seriously didn't believe me that human embryos still have tails...

Our daughter was "Maybe" throughout the pregnancy, which is what we started calling her during the 2 week wait before the BFP, and it stuck. First it was for "maybe a baby", then when we knew she was definitely a baby (lol), we justified it as "maybe a boy, maybe a girl." We had to force ourselves to stop calling her that after she was born, and a friend even suggested (before the birth) that Mae, Mabel, or Maybelle would all be pretty choices that we could name her for real to honor her in utero name. lol.

This bean doesn't have a name yet. We can't keep calling it the bean, though, since that's what we often call DD now. I'm sure something will present itself eventually.
