How to find social skills groups privately?

The only ones offered are done during the school day in public schools and dd (9) can't go in to the schools with her immune issues. There's only 1 option for therapy covered by medicaid here and they are the ones who do it in the schools. They've been doing stuff 1 on 1 with dd but I'm in there, sounds a lot more like lecturing to me and kinda pointless. Yeah you can talk about respect and not hitting and how to be a friend but its a bit different when you throw other kids into the mix. I'm wondering if we can find a small private group setting to work on her social skills.

The one my son attends was advertised on the local Asperger's group's website under local resources, and was also advertised at the occupational therapist's office. So, maybe ask local autism groups and OT groups?
Good luck!

I'd check for resources directed toward autism, mainly SLPs, OTs and psych. It's a few months away, but there may be more out of school during the summer, since families that utilize the public school system often seek out more private therapy over that long break. The only caution I would add is that you would want to make sure the group can meet her needs, and isn't exclusively designed for kids with ASD.
