What are you mamas doing for a regular exercise routine?

My first baby is now 9mo and I'm thinking of dropping the postpartum pounds and trying to incorporate exercise into my life on a regular basis. So now I'm wondering, how, when, and what are you mamas doing for exercise?

I'm just not sure how to fit this in.... I'm a wahm (try to ), i breastfeed, and never leave ds for longer than an hour (very rare to do that even). The only chance I have to get freelance work done is during his naps and so I can't workout then. Also, when it comes to exercise I have little motivation and probably need something extra to make it appealing, like a class (so that there is a social component).

I'd love to hear how others work it into their life and also any suggestions you've got for me!

I power walk with a stroller for 30-60 min in my neighborhood with my 9 mo old tucked into his infant car seat.

It's still in the 30s/40s where I live, so I like keeping him tucked in his car seat where he can stay warm (since he still fits in it), rather than buckling him directly in the stroller. Plus, I can look at him. I typically only go out when it's no colder than the low 40s at this point.

I was even jogging on the pavement with it, even thought it's a regular stroller. I finally bought a used jogging stroller on craigslist, but I need to clean it up, so I haven't used it yet. Looking forward to it, as it's also reversible so my LO can face me.

It's not only great for you to get out and enjoy the day, but also great for your little one to see the great outdoors.

I also have exercise bands and do exercises with those sporadically. I am trying to motivate myself to be consistent, as I have fallen off the wagon lately. I don't know why motivation is such a tough thing. Wish I could be hypnotized into loving to work out daily and wanting to do it so badly!

Well, Im a sahm to three school age children. They are at school all day. I walk them to and from school up and down our massive hill five days a week plus I do my shopping down by their school too, so I carry the groceries up the hill too. We've had a Wii for about a year now and I just purchased a cheap exercise game for it for my birthday this month. Its My Fitness Coach Cardio Exercise (thats in England, it might be called something else in the states). We're loving it. Its a simple format and at first I was disappointed thinking it was rubbish, but it didnt take long to start unlocking new things. The workouts are surprisingly good. Its just like an interactive exercise dvd. Im loving it!

YouTube Exercise Videos

I found that the only way I can get a good workout is to use videos.
I go to youtube and type in exercise video or exercise dance or stretch.
This is something I can do with my children in the same room.
Walking and running did not work b/c I could not go fast or long enough while taking care of my children.
Dance incorporates cardio which is something I was missing out on and I am so glad I tried this.
I got the idea from this website too!

I walk. I love to walk. We're in the country now, but when we had a neighborhood I would take DD out every morning and I got to know a lot of people that way. I especially made sure to get out Fri and Sat mornings so I could find the garage sales, and they'd always say, "Oh, we see you out walking all the time". When we were in the 2-1 nap switch I would take her out to help her sleep. I didn't get my own rest, but at least it helped her not be so much of a grump!

When my kids were babes I put them in a sling or backpack and walked many a mile. I also did lots of squats and lunges with a baby on my back.
The first 2 came 18 months apart so pretty soon I was pushing a jogging stroller with one on my back. Talk about burning calories! It was often the only way to get them both to sleep. I did this in all weather. I just bundled them up.
Once they were both in the jogging stroller I ran.
I squeezed in yoga or abs when I could.
Adding some decent running/walking to breastfeeding made the weight melt off.
It's much harder shedding weight now that they (and I )are older.
