Went to Doctors Conference Today - How Fun!

My baby has a rare string of Goltz Syndrome and we were invited to go to a doctor's dermatology conference where she was a live case study that doctors can learn about rare skin conditions, and for an hour, we were in an open examination room where doctors who reviewed my baby's skin condition at a previous overview with pictures could visit her in person to see how her skin has developed. It was interesting seeing so many doctors in a short period of time. All the little signs that my 4 month shows when she is happy and excited she did today - swung her arms forward, smiled, talked, thumped her legs - she was so excited seeing so many people in the room at the same time - I never knew a little baby can be such a rock star!

It also felt good to participate in a learning experience for the medical profession - we have had such good experiences with the doctors and specialists that work with my daughter, I was glad to kind of give back in a little way.

That is fantastic!!!!

I got a similar opportunity when I was pregnant...there was a midwife conference in my area, and they needed a pregnant model. I was 37 weeks. For 2 hours all the student midwives focussed on my belly and my baby while they discussed everything pertinent to my stage of pregnancy. It was so fun to have all that focus on MY BABY, and really neat to hear and learn so much myself!

How wonderful that your daughter enjoyed it so much You're right, she is a rockstar

Thanks Mama - it was such a great experience - I hope my baby grows up wanting to still participate in these sorts of things (I can see a little girl getting to an age of not wanting to do it anymore - having all these strangers touching you all over), I hope I can raise her to understand the importance of her participating in such events ... she was so happy and excited through the whole thing and she tried talking to all the doctors in her neonatal language, lol

Midwives are the best - I gave birth with midwives and my midwife was so awesome - I had a complicated delivery and she was just so nice about everything and totally went above and beyond her call of duty.

I'm glad it was such a positive experience. I also have a rare eye disease that is not seen often and since I was a young child ophthalmologists have always looking in my eyes because they have never seen anything like it. Often my 3 main eye doctors will personally call me to come in on a certain day or time so someone can see my eyes while I am there for my appointment.
