I'm ECing my second babe. My first is now 2 1/2 and is reliably in undies all day (and has been on and off independent for the last 6 months). I started at 3 months with him and he's been absolutely reliable about poops in the toilet since about 4 months. Almost no poopy diapers since then - maybe 2, I think. I do diaper him at night though - and I think we'll work on that once summer comes around. It's cold and we air dry our laundry - so I want to wait for lots of sunny days in a row to dry wet bedclothes! Ha!
We also take our new little one potty - but just during diaper changes. I'm not totally regimented about EC - I'm kind of lazy about it. But, we've been catching all her poos and many pees. I cloth dipe so have high motivation to catch poos.

Again, I'll get more serious about taking her potty more often and cueing and wearing no dipes as the weather warms. It's just too cold right now and we live in a cold house too.
Dea, we had some major ups and downs with Leo as he became mobile and went through dif't stages. We just sort of went with it and kept offering potty and encouraging him to use it and eventually it stuck. I think for me - Ingrid Bauer talks about how kids don't develop in a straight line, they rather go back and forth between trying new things and taking a step back or sideways until they are finally ready to move on - and this has proven helpful for me in our EC journey. It's kept me relaxed and willing to continue on and kept me from being frustrated if my son has a miss or needs to wear a diaper for a time.
I am happy we are doing it though - it has been nice not to have many poopy dipes at all, and my kiddos basically never get diaper rash. I do like that. I also like that my son has been comfortable with the potty from the get go.
